2017 Summer Trends - Stripes

We're starting something new on Scout Sports News: Trends!

While the golf and sporting world tend to have their own, entirely unique trends, they still look to the fashion & street style world for inspiration.

Today we're focusing on the Summer 2017 trend of Stripes!

Stripes have become less of a trend, and more of a classic print--that can almost act as a neutral. But they were all over the runways of Spring/Summer 2017.

The golf world has and always will love stripes, but this season the fashion world really loved them...See how Scout Sports loved them [and how you should too]:

The Masters 2017 - Predictions & Picks

The Masters 2017 - Predictions & Picks

Masters 2017. T-minus one week until the most anticipated golf event of the year kicks off at Augusta National!

We have a few new top picks for who we want to and who we think will take home the famous green jacket this year.

Out of the 94 players [as of now] invited to play at Augusta, we have chosen 8 contenders for the final potential winner of the 81st Masters.

1. Jordan Spieth - yes, we know, we always include Spieth. But, he is a fellow Texan and a young golfer making the game of golf appealing for younger athletes.

Plus, look at all he's done in his first 3 years at the Masters [like, winning]. We want him to keep killin' it.

2. Phil Mickelson - yes, another favorite we always list. "Philly" could tie Tiger's record of 4 Master wins if he gets the green jacket this year; AND break the record for Augusta's oldest champion too.

3. Jason Day - one of our favorite non-American players. He's been emotionally challenged in the past couple of weeks with his mom announcing her lung cancer, and undergoing successful surgery.

We've noticed a trend with players having big wins, while facing personal and emotional challenges [read: Danny Willet last year, and Ben Crenshaw's Masters story], and we believe Day could rise above too.

4. Jon Rahm - watching Rahm play at the Dell Matchplay last weekend put Rahm on our radar. He's only 22 and heating up fast--now ranked in the top 15 male golfers in the world. We like what we saw and we're ready to see more!

5. Dustin Johnson - currently #1 in the world, we cannot ignore DJ as a top pick...or should we say, our number 1 pick for the winner. He has been hot hot hot and we don't expect him to cool down any time soon. This would be his first green jacket and we think he'd look pretty good in it.

6. Justin Thomas - Not yet 24, this young golfer has already had a fire season. He's won 3 times, and has broken a few records. Maybe the Masters will be record-breaking for him.

7. Hideki Matsuyama - He's had a good season with wins and close runner-ups through 2016-17. He's also done well at the past Masters finishing T-7, so we'll see how he does this year!

8. Justin Rose - He won gold at the Olympics, and has always finished well at Augusta. Maybe this is his year to shine.

What do you think of our picks? Comment below, or share our post on social media!

We have also included some sneak peeks of outfits that are part of our S/S17 collection that launch next week! We suggest sporting these ensembles at The Masters to look like a pro while watching the pros. Keep an eye out for these items to go LIVE 4/3/17.

Cheers to a winning week for all golf fans!

WGC Dell Matchplay

WGC Dell Matchplay

As an Austin-based company, PGA Tour's Dell Matchplay is now like our Spring Break.

We get anxiously excited all month, carefully plan our days [and outfits], fill out our brackets [yes this is a thing: see here], and wake up happy all week, knowing we get to watch the best of the best in our hometown.

We gladly welcomed all the pros and celebrities to one of our favorite home golf courses last year, and this year we'll do the same. We saw Jason Day take home the winnings; we chatted with Earl Campbell, and even got a signature from Feherty [whaaat]. We're ready to see what this year will bring!

Going to Matchplay and don't know what to wear to an all-day, [almost] all-week, warm, outdoor golf event? See our suggestions below:

Ladies & Gents - all looks available in the e-shop now!

Last year we had the squad repping Scout hard, and this year we'll do the same. Keep an eye out for people in Scout Sports caps! We'll be handing out discount codes for you to use on the online shop.

However, this time we may have a better shot at taking home "the gold" with top players like, Jordan Spieth and Jason Day back in the game.

See exactly how the unique Ryder Cup scoring and process of the tournament works here

We also enjoyed this article of random facts about the Ryder Cup to get us even more excited for the big weekend of golf.

While we love the USA outfits the guys will be wearing this weekend, we will be supporting the American team with our own patriotic Scout Sports ensembles.

PGA Championship Picks: Top 4

PGA Championship Picks: Top 4

It's hard to believe it is already time for the 4th and final major of the 2015-2016 PGA tour season--the PGA Championship tournament

This year the PGA major kicks off on Thursday, July 28 at the historic course Baltusrol, in New Jersey.

Baltusrol Par 4 hole 13 via golf digest

The big question for this tournament is: Will the winner be a first-time major champion like the past 3 winners of the majors this year (Danny Willett, Dustin Johnson, Henrik Stenson)?
It is not every season that the 4 golf major championships (Masters, US Open, British Open, and PGA Championship) crown 4 first-time winners at each major. In fact, this has only ever happened 4 times in Golf Majors history.

So naturally we are rooting for some first-timers to win, along with some other top players who have been on our radar lately. Check out our top 4 picks below:

1. Henrik Stenson

Henrik Stenson wins The Open 2016

He's still on fire from his first major win at The Open a couple weeks ago, so he should be in perfect shape to bring home 2 major trophies in a row this weekend. It's always fun to watch a back-to-back win; and only 3 players have ever won the PGA after another major.

2. Phil Mickelson

Phil Mickelson wins PGA Champ 2005

He was the last one to win the PGA championship the last time it was held at Baltusrol. Also, we feel a little bad for how things turned out for him at The Open a couple of weeks ago when he went head to head in a historic dual against Stenson [to come in second even when playing amazingly].

Let's take this one home Lefty!

3. Sergio Garcia

Sergio Garcia wins AT&T Byron Nelson 2016

Sergio has set the record for the golfer with the most top-10 finishes without a major win--with currently 22 top-10 finishes throughout his golf career.

If he wins this week he would be #5 for first-time major-winners from a different country in a row. Viva Sergio!

4. Rickie Fowler

Rickie Fowler PGA Championship 2014

Yes, Rickie is on the list again too. But he has never won a major and it's due time. He has gone 7 straight majors without a top-10 finish, so our odds aren't great, but we're pulling for him anyways.

In our last blog post featuring Scout Sports top picks for The Open, 2 of the picks played extremely well and placed in the top 5 at the tournament. Maybe we'll get lucky again this week :)

The Open - Top 3 for the 3rd Major

The Open - Top 3 for the 3rd Major

The 3rd major of the golf season begins tomorrow--the distinguished British Open...and the 145th Open at that.

This year the major will be held at the Royal Troon in Scotland. It has been 12 years since the tournament was here last, and it will prove challenging as always with wet conditions and gruesome bunkers.

Since it is the 3rd major of the year, we are picking top 3 players we would like to see win it all.

1. Phil Mickelson

It's been 3 years since Ol' Phil won the British Open; and there's no time like the present to take home the humble $9.3 million purse.

He's always been a favorite, and we'll always love to see him win.

2. Rickie Fowler

As of late, Fowler is one of the only top golfers who has not backed out of playing for Team USA in the Olympics. And for that, we applaud him. And we'll applaud him even more when he's hoisting the Clairet Jug on Sunday.

Team USA, Team Rickie!

3. Zach Johnson

Another play who we are always happy to see win. Zach was the ultimate champion at The Open last year in St. Andrews. We would love to see him be the winner again this year and move his golfing career ever forward.

Plus, we would love to see Spieth drink from Johnson's jug again. Zach is generous.

Below are the tee times for the opening round (via Golfweek).

Anything could happen!
